NATO Signal Battalion
The NATO Signal Battalion operates, supports, and maintains Deployable Communication Information Systems (DCIS) to enable command and control for deployed NATO headquarters and units during operations, missions, and exercises.
The Maintenance and Support Company (M&S Coy) is responsible for level 1 and level 2 CIS support of NATO DCIS and for level 1 and level 2 preventive and corrective maintenance of non-CIS equipment.
The Communications and Information Systems Platoon is responsible for communications and information systems (CIS) level 2/2 and CIS support for all CIS assets integrated into the battalion.
The Satellite Communications Section is responsible for operating and performing maintenance up to level 2 of satellite, radio, and Direct Line of Sight (DLOS), in support of NATO operations and exercises.
Responsible for level 2 maintenance and configuration of deployable satellite equipment, HF radio, DLOS, and other radio frequency systems.
As a satellite communication technician, you report to the section chief (SATCOM) or team leader (SATCOM Team 1), OR8.
The assignment is expected to last either 2 or 3 years.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage maintenance of SATCOM equipment, HF, DLOS, tactical radios, and other RF systems at deployed locations.
- Exercise technical control, installation, and repair of SATCOM terminals as well as configuration of HF and DLOS.
The position may require deployments within the entire NATO operational area as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- OR6 / OR7
- Experience in planning, operating, and monitoring various communication and information systems including the operation of carriers and shelters
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of FM Satcom, HF, and other communication equipment including multiplex technology
- Basic knowledge of digital technology
- Hold a full CE driver's license
- English – SLP 2222 (Listening, speaking, reading, writing)

You should be agile in your communication with both colleagues and customers and have a security awareness. You are comfortable making decisions regarding your own work as well as the group's work and enjoy complex and non-routine tasks. The tasks require you to work methodically, analytically, and enjoy problem-solving.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
DESIRABLE
- All NATO SATCOM courses applicable to NCISG NSBs including but not limited to DSGT, TSGT, UTSGT, TACSAT (including next generation in the future). Level 2 desirable.
- All NATO RF courses applicable to NCISG NSBs including but not limited to HF radio, TACSAT, and DLOS. Level 2 desirable.
- CCC-SM-22206 – NATO C4ISR Orientation for Officers
- ETE-MW-3834 – NATO Orientation Course
